Overview

Online Ordering System for Restaurant gives a restaurant its own branded ordering page: customers browse the menu, pay online, and track their order, while the kitchen sees incoming tickets in real time and staff manage the menu themselves.

It is built for restaurants tired of losing 20–30% of every order to delivery aggregators, letting them own the customer, the data, and the margin on direct orders.

The problem

Delivery aggregators charge steep commissions and keep the customer relationship. A direct ordering system lets a restaurant take orders on its own site commission-free, with the kitchen and payments handled end to end.

Who it's for

  • Restaurants and cafes that want commission-free direct orders.
  • Cloud kitchens taking orders straight from customers.
  • Food businesses that want to own their customer data and margins.

Features

Menu management

Staff manage categories, items, prices, and availability, so the online menu is always current.

Online ordering & payment

Customers build an order and pay online, so orders arrive confirmed and paid.

Order tracking

Customers see their order status from received through to ready or out for delivery.

Kitchen view

A real-time kitchen display shows incoming orders so the team can prepare them without delay.

Branded and commission-free

Orders come through the restaurant's own site, so there is no per-order aggregator fee.

User stories

  • As a customer, I want to order and pay online so that my order is confirmed instantly.
  • As an owner, I want direct orders so that I keep the aggregator commission.
  • As kitchen staff, I want a live order view so that I can prepare orders quickly.
  • As a manager, I want to manage the menu so that prices and availability stay accurate.

User flow

  1. 1

    Browse menu

The customer browses the branded menu and adds items to a cart.

  2. 2

    Pay & order

The customer checks out and pays online, confirming the order.

  3. 3

    Kitchen prepares

The order appears on the kitchen view for preparation.

  4. 4

    Track to ready

The customer tracks the order through to ready or delivery.

Architecture

A Next.js application with Supabase for data and auth and Razorpay for payments. Orders flow from the customer's cart to a paid order and onto a real-time kitchen display, so the whole path is one connected system.

The menu is managed by staff and drives what customers can order, while order status updates keep customers and kitchen in sync.

Because ordering is on the restaurant's own domain, there is no aggregator commission and the customer data stays with the business.
