Overview

Multi-vendor Marketplace connects many sellers and many buyers in one storefront. Sellers onboard, manage their own listings and orders from a dashboard, and receive automatic payouts with the platform's commission split out; buyers shop across all vendors in a single cart and checkout.

It is built for founders creating a marketplace business โ€” the model behind Amazon, Etsy, or a niche vertical marketplace โ€” who need seller management, split payments, and reviews working together from launch.

The problem

A marketplace is far more than a store: it needs seller onboarding, per-seller dashboards, commission logic, and split payouts, all reconciled correctly. Building that from scratch is complex and error-prone. This delivers the whole multi-vendor engine.

Who it's for

  • Founders launching a marketplace business.
  • Businesses aggregating many sellers or service providers.
  • Niche verticals wanting a curated multi-vendor storefront.

Features

Seller onboarding

Sellers register, set up their store, and are approved into the marketplace through a guided flow.

Seller dashboard

Each seller manages their own listings, orders, and earnings from a dedicated dashboard.

Listings across vendors

Buyers browse and search products from all sellers in one storefront and cart.

Commission & payout split

Payments are split automatically, taking the platform commission and paying out each seller their share.

Reviews & ratings

Buyers rate products and sellers, building the trust a marketplace depends on.

User stories

  • As a seller, I want to onboard and list products so that I can sell on the marketplace.
  • As a seller, I want my own dashboard so that I manage my orders and earnings.
  • As a buyer, I want to shop across vendors in one cart so that checkout is simple.
  • As the platform, I want automatic commission and payouts so that money is split correctly.

User flow

  1. 1

    Seller onboards

A seller registers, sets up their store, and is approved.

  2. 2

    List products

The seller adds listings that appear in the shared storefront.

  3. 3

    Buyer purchases

A buyer shops across vendors and checks out in one cart.

  4. 4

    Split & payout

Payment is split โ€” platform commission out, seller share paid out.

Architecture

A Next.js storefront with Supabase for data and auth and Stripe (with connected accounts) for split payments. Sellers, listings, orders, and payouts are modelled so each seller's data and earnings are isolated while buyers see one storefront.

Commission and payout logic runs on each order, taking the platform fee and crediting the seller, with reconciliation kept auditable.

Reviews and ratings attach to products and sellers, and the architecture scales to many vendors and a growing catalogue.
