Build Something Similar

Live presentations are broken. Presenters juggle slide decks, speaker notes, remote clickers, and a separate tab for audience Q&A — all at the same time. There's no single tool that gives a presenter full control over their show while keeping the audience synced and engaged in real time. The founder came to us with a clear problem: build the 'mission control' for live presentations.

We scoped the MVP around three core flows: the Presenter View (full-screen cue management and slide control), the Audience View (live-synced, browser-based), and a real-time dashboard for managing sessions. We used WebSockets for instant sync across all connected devices, built a clean React frontend with keyboard-driven presenter controls, and deployed the entire stack in under 2 weeks — including a working demo used to pitch early adopters.

Outcomes that speak for themselves.

Presenter Dashboard

Full-screen presenter view with slide navigation, upcoming cue preview, speaker notes, and timer — all keyboard-accessible for hands-free control during live sessions.

Real-Time Audience Sync

Audience devices follow the presenter automatically via WebSocket connections. No refresh required — every slide change and cue propagates in under 100ms.

Cue Management System

Presenters create ordered cue lists before the session. Each cue can trigger slide transitions, timed reveals, or custom events — all scriptable from the dashboard.

Session Management

Create, schedule, and manage presentation sessions from a central admin panel. Share join links with audiences and monitor live connection counts in real time.

Multi-Device Support

Works across desktop, tablet, and mobile — audience members can follow along on any screen size without installing an app. PWA-ready for offline fallback.

Audience Interaction Layer

Built-in Q&A and reaction system so the audience can signal engagement, upvote questions, and interact with the presenter without disrupting the flow.

Authentication & Session Security

Secure session codes prevent uninvited guests. Presenters control who can join, and all WebSocket connections are authenticated before receiving live state.

Responsive Presenter Remote

A mobile-optimised remote control view so presenters can walk around the stage while controlling the deck from their phone — with haptic feedback on cue triggers.

Export & Analytics

Post-session reports show engagement timelines, audience drop-off points, and Q&A participation — so presenters can improve their next talk with real data.

How we went from brief to live.

01

Discovery & Scope (Day 1–2)

We mapped the three core user roles — Presenter, Audience, and Admin — and defined exactly which flows had to work at MVP launch. Everything else was deferred.

02

UI/UX Design in Figma (Day 3–4)

High-fidelity mockups for all three views. We ran one design review call with the founder and locked designs before writing a single line of code.

03

WebSocket Architecture (Day 4–5)

Built the real-time sync layer first — the hardest technical piece. Validated that presenter actions propagated to audience devices reliably before building the UI on top.

04

Frontend Build (Day 5–10)

Implemented the Presenter Dashboard, Audience View, and Session Admin panel in React. Integrated the WebSocket layer and tested across multiple devices simultaneously.

05

QA & Cross-Device Testing (Day 11–12)

Tested on Chrome, Safari, Firefox, iOS, and Android. Validated sync latency under load and fixed edge cases in the cue management flow.

06

Deployment & Handoff (Day 13–14)

Deployed to Vercel (frontend) and Railway (backend), configured environment variables, and handed over the full repo, docs, and a recorded walkthrough.

I gave the team a rough idea on Monday. By Friday I had a working demo I could show to investors. The WebSocket sync was flawless — my audience stayed locked in on every slide.
