Quizentia
An AI-powered quiz generator that transforms any content — text, PDFs, YouTube videos, and images — into interactive assessments in seconds. 100,000 quizzes generated and counting.
Project Snapshot
Teachers, trainers, and content creators spend hours writing quiz questions manually — it's one of the most time-consuming parts of creating educational content. Existing quiz tools require you to write every question yourself. The founder wanted to flip this: give the AI your source material, get a ready-to-share quiz in seconds. The technical challenge was making this work reliably across four very different input types — raw text, PDFs, YouTube video transcripts, and images.
We built Quizentia as a multi-input AI SaaS platform powered by GPT-4. Each input type has its own ingestion pipeline: PDFs are parsed and chunked, YouTube URLs are transcribed via the YouTube Transcript API, images are OCR-processed, and raw text is passed directly. All inputs feed into a shared question generation engine that produces multiple choice, true/false, and short answer questions with configurable difficulty levels. The platform ships with a quiz player, a results dashboard, and shareable quiz links — all delivered in 3 weeks.
Outcomes that speak for themselves.
Every feature, shipped to production.
Multi-Format Content Ingestion
Users paste text, upload a PDF, drop in a YouTube URL, or upload an image. Each input type has a dedicated parsing pipeline that extracts clean, structured text before passing it to the AI.
AI Question Generation Engine
GPT-4 generates multiple choice, true/false, and short answer questions from the extracted content. Configurable question count (5–50), difficulty level (easy/medium/hard), and focus topics.
YouTube Video Transcription
Paste any YouTube URL and Quizentia fetches the video transcript automatically. Ideal for lecture recordings, tutorial videos, and educational content — quiz in 30 seconds, no watching required.
PDF & Document Parsing
Upload PDFs up to 50 pages. The parser chunks the document into logical sections, preserves context across chunks, and generates questions that test comprehension across the whole document.
Interactive Quiz Player
Clean, distraction-free quiz taking experience with a progress bar, answer reveal on submission, and an explanation for every correct answer generated by the AI.
Shareable Quiz Links
Every generated quiz gets a public shareable link. Teachers share with students, trainers share with teams — no login required to take a quiz, login required to view results.
Results Dashboard
Quiz creators see per-question performance analytics — which questions most people got wrong, average scores, completion rates, and individual respondent results.
Quiz Library & Organisation
All generated quizzes are saved to the creator's library with tags, folders, and search. Duplicate, edit, and regenerate individual questions without regenerating the whole quiz.
Freemium Billing with Stripe
Free tier allows 5 quizzes per month. Pro plan unlocks unlimited generation, PDF uploads, analytics, and team sharing — billed monthly or annually via Stripe with a 14-day free trial.
How we went from brief to live.
Input Pipeline Architecture (Week 1, Days 1–3)
Designed the four ingestion pipelines separately before building the shared AI layer. Validated YouTube transcript extraction, PDF parsing quality, and image OCR accuracy with sample content.
Prompt Engineering & AI Layer (Week 1, Days 3–5)
Iterated on GPT-4 prompts to consistently produce well-structured questions with correct answers and meaningful distractors. Built the configuration layer for difficulty and question type control.
Core UI Build (Week 2)
Built the quiz creation flow, multi-format upload interfaces, quiz player, and results dashboard. Connected all four input pipelines to the live AI endpoint and tested end-to-end.
Library, Sharing & Billing (Week 3, Days 1–3)
Added the quiz library with folders and search, generated shareable public links, and wired up Stripe for the freemium model — free tier limits enforced server-side.
Performance & Rate Limiting (Week 3, Days 3–4)
Added a job queue for AI generation requests to handle traffic spikes without hitting OpenAI rate limits. Implemented caching for repeated inputs to reduce API costs.
Launch (Week 3, Day 5)
Deployed to Vercel and Railway. The founder launched on ProductHunt and Twitter — generating 2,000 quizzes on day one and reaching 10,000 registered users in the first week.

I used to spend 2 hours writing quiz questions for a 30-minute lecture. Now it takes 30 seconds. The PDF parsing and YouTube integration work better than anything else I've tried.
