BgmiLover
A full gaming arena and community platform for BGMI players — tournaments, real-time leaderboards, match tracking, and a content hub — built in 5 weeks, reaching 10K daily active users.
Project Snapshot
The BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) community is massive and deeply engaged, but fragmented across Discord servers, WhatsApp groups, and Instagram pages. There was no single destination for players to find tournaments, track their stats, compare leaderboard rankings, and consume game content. The founder — a passionate player himself — wanted to build the definitive hub for the BGMI community in India.
We built BgmiLover as a full-stack community platform with four core pillars: tournaments (create, join, bracket management), leaderboards (real-time ranking by stats), match tracking (live game data integration), and a content hub (news, guides, clips). The platform was designed mobile-first given the audience, with a dark gaming aesthetic and fast load times for users on mid-range Android devices. In 5 weeks we delivered a production-ready platform that attracted 10,000 daily active users within the first month of launch.
Outcomes that speak for themselves.
Every feature, shipped to production.
Tournament Management System
Organisers create tournaments with custom rules, entry fees, prize pools, and bracket formats (single elimination, double elimination, round robin). Players register and track bracket progress live.
Real-Time Leaderboards
Global and tournament-specific leaderboards updated in real time. Players are ranked by kills, wins, K/D ratio, and custom scoring rules. Filterable by region, squad, and tier.
Player Profiles & Stats
Every registered player gets a public profile with match history, win/loss stats, tournament badges, and social links. Profiles are shareable and indexed by search engines for discoverability.
Match Tracking & Live Results
Live match results posted by tournament admins with verified screenshots. The scoring engine calculates points automatically based on placement and kill count per tournament ruleset.
Squad & Team Management
Players create or join squads, manage rosters, and enter tournaments as a team. Squad leaders can invite members, set roles, and track collective performance across all tournaments.
Content Hub (News & Guides)
SEO-optimised article and guide system with a CMS for admin-published content. Covers patch notes, tier lists, strategy guides, and community highlights — driving organic traffic.
Notifications & Alerts
Push and in-app notifications for tournament start reminders, match result updates, leaderboard position changes, and new content — built with FCM for Android and web push.
Admin Panel
Platform admins manage tournaments, resolve disputes, manage user accounts, publish content, and view analytics — all from a separate internal dashboard with role-based access.
Mobile-First PWA
Built as a Progressive Web App optimised for mid-range Android devices. Fast load times, offline caching for static content, and installable to the home screen without an app store.
How we went from brief to live.
Discovery & Audience Research (Week 1, Days 1–2)
Studied the BGMI community across Discord, Reddit, and YouTube. Identified the top pain points — no central tournament hub, no reliable stat tracking — and validated the core feature set.
Mobile-First Design Sprint (Week 1, Days 3–5)
Designed all screens in Figma with a dark gaming aesthetic. Prioritised the tournament flow and leaderboard views as the primary user journeys. Approved in one review session.
Core Platform Build (Weeks 2–3)
Built user authentication, player profiles, the tournament creation and registration system, and the bracket management engine. Launched a private beta with 50 real players to test tournament flows.
Leaderboards & Match Tracking (Week 4)
Built the real-time leaderboard engine with WebSocket updates, the match result submission flow, and the automated scoring calculator. Integrated the content CMS and article system.
Notifications, PWA & Polish (Week 5, Days 1–3)
Added push notifications via FCM, converted to PWA with service workers, optimised image loading for slow connections, and ran performance audits on low-end Android devices.
Launch & Community Seeding (Week 5, Days 4–5)
Deployed to AWS, ran a launch tournament with a ₹10,000 prize pool to seed the community. The founder promoted it across Discord and Instagram — 10K DAU within 30 days.
